Rush Poker may be temporarily on the shelf as Full Tilt works out their business issues, but it seems that the largest poker room in the world may be working to bring Rush back to online poker even sooner than that.
PokerStars confirmed indirectly this week that they were indeed close to a beta release of a Rush-like client. If you’re unfamiliar with Rush Poker, it’s essentially a cloud-based poker game where a new table is drawn every hand, allowing a very interesting dynamic where position and other elements of the game of poker that are typically fixed become quite fluid.
There are few details about the PokerStars version, except that ring games are likely to be the first candidate for beta testing. Rush Poker was incredibly popular at Full Tilt and many in the industry are surprised that it has taken until now for a major room to emerge with their own take on the format.
It’s difficult to imagine a version of Rush that isn’t quite close to the original, as the experience was quite smooth and enjoyable for players. One would imagine that any major real money online poker room would be thrilled to have a version of online poker that moved at an even greater speed than the standard online poker table, which is itself a significantly souped-up version of a live poker table.
Fans of Rush Poker may not have much longer to wait for their fix. We can’t imagine that PokerStars would let word of the Beta leak without an already strong product in hand. While there’s no timetable available at this moment, we believe that PokerStars is likely angling for a release somewhere near the holidays. Whether rivals such as Party Poker follow closely with their own versions is still to be seen.
